Candlemas Sunday
Today we are celebrating Candlemas- The purification of Mary and the presentation of Christ Jesus at the Temple (Luke 2:22-40)
40 days after Jesus's birth, Mary and Joseph took him to the temple. According to tradition this would involve the blessing of candles, symbolising Christ as the light of the world and serves today as a reminder of Jesus's fulfillment of the law and His revelation as the Messiah.
For us today at church the baby Jesus has been taken from the crib scene and placed at the Cross as a symbol of us looking towards Easter. Him dwelling among us and then ultimately Christ's death on the cross as our ever-loving Saviour.
Now for pupils Year 6 onwards
Our first Grounded of 2026 will happen this Thursday evening at St Anne's Hoxton. It is now open for ages 10-18
We will be discussing and celebrating International Education Day which is on Saturday 24th January - this year's celebrations will focus on the importance of education for peace and sustainable development throughout the world as well as the power of youth in co-creating education which is this year's theme.

Adoration of the Magi by Fra Angelico and Filippo Lippi (1423)
Today we celebrate Epiphany Sunday, the moment the light of Christ was revealed to the world. Just as the Magi followed the star with hope and expectation, may we also learn to follow the light that guides us toward truth, compassion, and purpose.
May this season remind us that God’s presence often appears in unexpected places. On this Epiphany Sunday as we remember the journey of the wise men—drawn not by certainty, but by faith. Their story reminds us that God’s guidance often comes as a gentle light, leading us one step at a time.
May we have the wisdom to follow, the humility to worship, and the courage to offer our gifts to the world.
Scripture: Matthew 2:1-12: The journey of the Magi visiting the Messiah.
Join us this Tuesday (6th January) for Still point - a space and time to meet with God through contemplative music, reading scripture, prayer and silence.
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! ✨
As we step into a brand‑new year, may we walk with confidence, courage, and peace—knowing that God goes before us and stands beside us every step of the way.
Here’s to a year filled with purpose, grace, and unshakable faith.

We had a lot of fun today at our annual Hoxton Winter Garden event. The carol singing, Donkeys, a brass band and much more. Thank you for joining us in the celebrations
Yesterday at church we celebrated Advent Sunday marking the beginning of Advent season. A season of expectation and preparation for both Jesus's birth at Christmas and his second coming.
We lit the first of four Advent candles representing hope- the others representing. Love. Joy and peace and the 4 weeks of the Advent season and the virtues that Jesus delivers to the world and to our lives.
God of Hope
Your son, Jesus, is your greatest gift to us.
He is a sign of your love and a symbol of hope.
Help us walk in that love during the weeks of Advent and look towards the hope Jesus brings this Christmas season.
As we wait and prepare for his coming.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior.Amen
