Our purpose as a community is to demonstrate God's goodness and greatness by communicating the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed. We believe that doing this with integrity will contribute to the spiritual, social and cultural renewal of Hackney.

beginnings

grace church hackney started meeting as a christian community in April 2004. The church is led by Rev Andrew Jones an ordained Church of England vicar.

good news

The message of Jesus Christ is good news - ‘gospel’. We believe it’s a message of hope which crosses all the divides of history and society. Although the Christian faith is anchored in the life and words of Jesus - in past events and past writings ..

contemporary

... because this gospel is truth for all people, in all times, and in all places we believe it's not stuck in the past. It is always contemporary. We aim to present and enact this gospel in a way which resonates with the culture and concerns of present-day urban individuals, families and tribes.

gospel focus

This good news of Jesus is the heartbeat of all we do as a church. It's our focus when we try to understand the bible and do what it says. It's our focus when we zero in on the death of Jesus by eating bread and drinking wine at communion.

communicating grace

At grace church hackney we recognise that we live among diversity of belief. We wish to communicate the gospel with goodwill and 'grace' as Jesus did. So we welcome discussion, questions, objections and criticism.
